Dear Kayla,
Not a question, just a heartfelt thank you. I am 5’6″ and on January 6, 2025, I weighed about 230 pounds. I have done IF before and had some success, but I always made it too hard and gave up.
I read your book, set a goal of 140, started IF on the 6th, downloaded your Excel tracker (thank you!), and ordered a scale. It arrived on the 15th and my 1st official weigh-in (9 days after beginning) was 227. I weigh in every day.
Previously I overcomplicated things. I tracked carbs and calories. I measured my waist (you are so right about how subjective that is.)
The scale discouraged me, even though I knew weight loss is never a straight line. The 7-day rolling average is a godsend, and so is the simplicity of just basing everything on the clock and eating what I want without tracking. I also appreciate the perspective that family times are important and holidays are important. So, I will eat and adjust my expectations.
I’m currently down 5.4 pounds since the 15th. Based on my rate of loss, I estimate that it’s 8.4 since I read your book on the 6th.
Thank you!
JS
Dear JS,
Thank you for sharing your success with me and your fellow readers of this newsletter. Also, thank you for buying my book. I’m glad you found it helpful. You’re taking the actions that are causing this weight loss to happen! I hope you keep me updated on your progress!
Sincerely,
Kayla
To anyone reading this who isn’t having success yet this year, let’s look at what JS is doing. Success leaves clues.
JS is:
✅Weighing daily
✅Keeping a clear goal in sight.
✅Keeping it SIMPLE.
✅Watching the 7-day average.
✅Expecting the heartbeat of weight loss.
Are you doing these things? If not, why not try this method for 6 weeks and see what your results are? Start today. Work your plan to the best of your ability until March 22. See how it goes.
You might lose more slowly than JS. I know I sure did. But slow progress is still progress! And it doesn’t matter how fast you lose it. What matters is that you can keep it off. Focus on small changes that you can implement forever.
