Trail Review: Spring to Spring Trail in Sanford, Florida

Spring to Spring Trail Notes:

Summary: The portion of trail I hiked is very flat, and either paved or wooden foot bridge the whole way. I started at Lake Monroe campground, and went all the way to Gemini Springs which is approximately 3 miles. Part of the hike is in the shade in some beautiful lush forest, and part has no shade at all. Overall it’s a very pleasant hike, though some people might mind the road noise from I-4.

Location: 975 S Charles Richard Beall Blvd, DeBary, FL 32713

Length of available trails:  Currently about 17 miles of the Spring to Spring Trail is open, with future plans putting it at 26 miles

Skill level: Beginner. Very flat!

Wildlife I spotted while on the trail: Baby turtle, red shouldered hawk, osprey, armadillos, marsh hares, red bellied snake, squirrels, lizards, birds in abundance

Barefoot hiking friendliness: Not barefoot friendly, due to the choices in most places of rough pavement or gravel. And when there was no gravel, but sandy spots instead, there were lots of ants.
